getting into both of these games at the same time is pretty funny

Imagine Annabeth and Percy have a kid early, unplanned and it kinda fucks with their finances so Percy drops out of school to get a job so he can care for the kid and support Annabeth in school. At first he gets a job teaching kids sword fighting but then he hears about underwater welding which pays well because it’s dangerous but Percy is a child of the sea so it’s much less so for him. His boss is even willing to give him flexible hours which means Annabeth doesn’t have to take their kid to class anymore and they can actually afford daycare (why does is it the price of a mortgage nowadays???). A huge financial burden is lifted and Percy doesn’t mind the work so it’s good all the way around.

Fast forward to when Annabeth is done her masters in architecture and lands a job at a top firm. They’ve got savings and have Annabeth’s income to rely on. Percy heads back to school and finishes a degree in marine biology, going on to research some really niche topics like how underwater welding impacts the environment and shifting from there until he’s a well known expert in the field.

Just them finding their way. Supporting each other and landing on their feet no matter what

one of the things i love so much about hickey as a character is how Human he feels. how natural all of his shifting opinions are. he goes into the expedition with firmly held convictions about britain and the world, tries to convince himself through the expedition that those beliefs Aren't true, only to come out of it believing them even more strongly. he has his one-sided attachment to crozier, then has a one-sided fall out with crozier, then he wants his approval again, then he wants him gone again, and he's constantly bouncing around on how he feels about crozier and the navy and various other people he interacts with (cough gibson cough) all the time and it's present throughout every aspect of his character. it never feels like unsure storytelling or a flimsy character thesis or anything like that, though. it feels natural. it feels human. it feels like he's so lost in his own head about what he's here to do and what he wants from people and what he wants people to want from him that he forgets. he forgets who he is supposed to be and how he is supposed to feel. he has moments where genuine beliefs come through, genuine insecurities, genuine desires, because he isn't Good at putting up an act. and he Wants people to see through him. he's in constant turmoil with himself in a way that isn't overt or accentuated. there is no attention drawn to it. we're watching him figure things out as he goes; watching him half-come to conclusions, as he entertains an idea or possibility for some short period of time, before discarding it as he realizes it isn't what he believes. he doesn't feel overly erratic, or ideologically wishy washy, or like a particularly enthusiastic or skilled performer. he just comes off (to Me) as someone terribly unsure of the world and trying to figure it out in a way that makes sense to him

I understand that literature nerd Jason Todd is kind of overblown in fanon compared to it's actual presence in canon (a few issues during his pre (and post?)crisis Robin tenure that highlight it) BUT consider that I think it's hilarious if the unhinged gun toting criminal has strong opinions on poetry

I find it incredibly interesting how the fan response to Mouthwashing perfectly exemplifies the ideas and themes the game itself is trying to get across.

Seeing people completely ignore Anya and any of her struggles and pain that goes past surface level and instead focus on Curly and Jimmy really shows how effective the narrative was. How people can go throughout the whole game and miss arguably the entire point of the story and instead leave the game more worried about shipping the two male protagonists instead of the woman in the center of it all.

Really really wanted to bring home the disconnect between Marc and Vale in relation to Marc’s (dis)regard for his personal safety. Even though Vale is still furious with Marc, the idea of him injured is viscerally upsetting and frustrating. He doesn’t forgive Marc but he’s trying to have a grown up conversation and it’s HARD because, fundamentally, Vale sees all of this as a dangerous escalating pattern of behaviour which will have corresponding escalating consequences — meanwhile Marc just sees it as isolated incidents which are more or less out of his control. Fundamental difference. Extra extra frustrating for Vale and trying on his dwindling nerves

Also idea of Vale withholding something from Marc to try and correct his behaviour is exactly the type of shit Vale would try imo.

He thinks that he is the king of media and narratives !!!! This is his hubris !!!!! Everything can be managed and/or swept under the rug !!!!!! But that’s not how it looks from the outside !!!!!

I think, not for the first time, he really underestimated the gravity of his relationship with marc from both a personal and public perspective

Crucial to Luca’s relationship with Vale is that he is NOT a god but his brother.

Luca maybe one of the few people in bicameral who realises real love is sometimes tough confronting conversations. Meanwhile Vale, surrounded by people worshipping him and literally the most powerful man in the country, sees any slight as a personal attack/betrayal. Especially coming from Luca who he’s always protected to a degree, hired even though he was young and inexperienced, maybe also speaks to the fact that unconsciously Vale did not really take him seriously for a long time. And because of all of this, he physically can’t see past Luca coming to him on behalf of Marc and realise it’s an act of love, because to him everything is personal
